COVID-19 Rent

Rent Relief

If you and your family have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic due to lost wages, there are rental assistance funds you can apply to if you qualify. Unlike rent deferrals, you will not be required to pay back the one-time payment.

Residents making 80% or less than the area median income, and who have been economically impacted by COVID-19, may apply with their local Community Action Agency. This could cover your next rental payment or, if you have previously deferred rent, it can be used to reduce what you owe. There are also funds available for energy assistance to help with utility costs.

You will need to provide documentation, such as pay stubs, to show that you have been economically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. If you are approved for rental assistance, this money will be sent directly to Relay on your behalf as a one-time payment for a month of rent.

Eviction Moratorium

A temporary eviction moratorium is imposed on all residential evictions in Oregon for tenants on the basis of nonpayment of rent due to wage loss resulting from COVID-19. Please click on the questions below to learn more. You can also find additional printable information here:

What is the eviction moratorium?

The eviction moratorium is an order from city, county, and state officials. It ensures that people affected by COVID-19 that cannot pay rent, fees, services, or utilities due to substantial loss of income during this emergency, will not be evicted during this time.

NOTE: The moratorium does not apply to evictions for any other lawful purpose.

Do I still have to pay my rent?

Yes, you still have to pay your rent.

If your income has been reduced because of COVID-19, we encourage you to reach out to your community manager about rent deferral. You must notify them on or before the day your rent is due. All deferred rent must be paid back within six months.
